For over 4,000 years the harp has been a magical and beloved part of Jewish life. King David, one of the earliest and most beloved Jewish leaders, typically is pictured holding or playing his harp. Harps were also an integral part of the orchestra of the ancient Temple of Jerusalem.  As the Talmud explains, the most important instrument at all public religious ceremonies were two different types of harps: the nevel (a large harp with up to 23 strings) and a smaller triangular shaped lyre called a kinnor (with as few as three strings).

Technically, the harp has evolved considerably from these early instruments. Today, the concert grand harp has 47 strings, a large soundboard and 7 pedals which give it the widest musical range of any instrument in the orchestra. The music, however, maintains the same soul and feel as it has had through all the ages.  With this album, we sought to combine all the power and majesty of the modern harp with the most treasured and favorite of Jewish music.
