Plus, the truly rich and perfectly varied instrumentation and arrangements continuously delight: Principal Trumpet Paul Merkelo's perfectly playful "Sleigh Ride" and "Rudolph"; bassoonist James Lassen's mysterious reed work on the Nutcracker's "Arabian Dance"; and the lively pennywhistles by John Rankin and Lassen on "Bring a Torch."
